Hello, everyone! Welcome to this space where we explore the art of slow living, mindful consumption, and living with intention and purpose. Here, you will find inspiration to slow down, appreciate the present moment, and make choices that align with your values. Together, we will discover how small changes can lead to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

A few weeks back, I closed my personal Instagram account for the public, and promised my followers (before I completely closed, of course) that I will create an actual blog to share my slow living journey with them. The main reason I closed the Instagram account was to stay away from "instant posting & sharing", where I was forced to feed into an algorithm and controlled to share maximum context with so many limitations.

I love reading and writing, so I find it easier to write about things than trying to compact information into a 1x1 square or a 3-second reel. I wanted to take time to share my thoughts and experiences instead of instantly sharing it on a story (I can then save it to highlights, but it's hard for anyone to find specific posts amid thousands of instagram stories and posts), hence I thought of going back to blogging, where I can write my heart out and post whenever I feel like it.

What Is Slow Living and Why It Matters

Slow living is a lifestyle choice that encourages us to move at a natural pace, savouring each moment instead of rushing through life. It invites us to focus on quality over quantity in everything we do—from the food we eat to the relationships we nurture. This approach helps reduce stress, increase happiness, and improve overall well-being.

In today’s fast-paced society, many people feel overwhelmed by constant demands and distractions. Slow living offers a way to step back and regain control by prioritising what truly matters. It’s not about doing less but about doing things intentionally with greater awareness.

Mindful Consumption

Mindful consumption means making deliberate choices about what we buy, use, and support. It involves understanding the impact of our consumption on the environment, society, and our own lives. By consuming mindfully, we reduce waste, save money, and contribute to a healthier planet.

Although, I can straightaway tell you that I can never be 100% mindful in what I buy. There are many occasions where I would spontaneously buy things, or give in to trends, but I'm trying my best to keep it to a minimum. I managed to do this a lot last year, but there were many times I failed too. Through this blog, I want to explore this with you. I'm hoping this blog will bring awareness to myself as well as you on the importance of mindful consumption, which also leads to living with intention and purpose. All of these things are interconnected!

Living with Intention and Purpose

I didn't even know about my purpose in life until I did a "mindfulness session" as a part of my Masters program back in 2021 (during the pandemic). I have noticed that I feel incredibly wholesome ever since I started living with intention and purpose. Living with intention means making conscious decisions that align with your values and goals. It requires reflection on what you want from life and acting in ways that support those desires. Purpose adds meaning to your actions, helping you stay motivated and fulfilled.

As the very first post of this space, I would like to share a few practical tips to embrace slow living that worked very well for me:

  • Simplify your schedule

Reduce commitments that don’t add value or joy. Leave space for rest, creativity, and connection.

  • Create daily rituals

Whether it’s morning meditation, a mindful walk, or journaling, rituals anchor your day and foster presence. (I will share more on this in the future!)

  • Limit screen time

Set boundaries around technology use to avoid distractions and increase real-world engagement.

  • Practice gratitude

Regularly acknowledge what you appreciate to cultivate contentment and reduce the urge for more.

Let's start with those, and let's see where this journey takes us together!

Happy New Year!

Lots of love,

Neth
